Position Title: Dance Teaching Artist

Reports To: Studio Director / Community Partnerships Coordinator

Location: MotionScoop Dance Corp.

Position Overview: We are seeking experienced and passionate Dance Teaching Artists with expertise in various dance genres including Hip Hop, Latin social dances, creative movement, etc to join our team! This role is ideal for someone who believes in the transformative power of dance and is well-adept at creating engaging lesson plans, and the ability to inspire and support students in their artistic growth.

Work Schedule: In-school residencies and workshops. In-school residencies typically follow the DOE schedule from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am-3pm. Schools are located in Queens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and teach engaging, age-appropriate dance classes in one or more dance styles.

• Create a supportive and adaptive learning environment that encourages participation, creativity, and self-expression.

• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and support staff to develop personalized strategies for each student.

• Implement various teaching methods, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches, to cater to different learning styles.

• Provide ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust lesson plans as needed.

• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inspiring classroom atmosphere.

• Stay updated on best practices in dance education through continued professional development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Education or professional experience in dance.

• Candidates who reside in Queens (strongly preferred).

• Candidates with availability during in-school hours (strongly preferred).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching dance.

• Knowledge of various dance styles and techniques, with a preference for expertise in creative movement, Hip Hop and Latin social dances.

• Experience in developing lesson plans.

• Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and behavior management techniques.

• Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
