BeeHave at Wave Rising Series 2014

BeeHave at Wave Rising Series 2014 Kalin Ivanov

Overground Physical Theater is honored to perform its latest interdisciplinary work “BeeHave” at the 9th Annual Wave Rising Series 2014 of White Wave – New York’s ultra-contemporary choreography venue.  For those of you who couldn’t make the bee-dazzling world premier at the Ailey Citigroup Theater and our presentation “What can we learn from bees to re-imagine the world” at “Performing the World” conference in NY, don’t miss this unique opportunity to enjoy 30 minutes of the show, and buy tickets now.

Dance-theater mavericks Valentina Priolo & Antonia Katrandjieva; visionary film-makers Ana Atanassova & Kalin Ivanov; performing art iconoclasts Gessica Paperini, Motoko Tadano, Richard Schandola have swarmed up with mystic arche-polyphonist Bisan Toron, hypnotic fire dancer and actress Evgeniya Radilova and boutique costume designer Hristina Hristova to create a cutting-edge “hologram” of associative magic and existential depth.

Whimsical dialogues, cutting edge choreography, arresting video design and poignant messages provoke the audience to shift perspective, relinquish the mundane, and harvest wisdom directly from the cells of the honeycomb. Post-modernist concepts of deconstruction and eclecticism are challenged as “Overground” revives dance as a spiritual pursuit – recognizing the power of performance to unite, transform and enlighten. Focusing on authenticity, rather than originality, “BeeHave” culminates in dancing our collective rhythm to re-tone the world – shedding territories, tongues and tribal boundaries to embrace our collective spirit – our human hive.
