ACPW Spring Season 2025

ACPW performing Steven Pisano

New York, NY — Alessandra Corona Performing Works proudly announces its new evening of contemporary dance, featuring three powerful and original choreographies that explore the essence of freedom, transformation, and memory. The performance will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 7:30 PM at The Theater at St. Jean, located at 150 E 76th St, New York, NY 10021.

Led by Artistic Director Alessandra Corona, the company presents a dynamic and emotionally charged program with works by Alessandra Corona, Francesca La Cava, and Simon Kuban, accompanied by original music from Thomas Lentakis, alongside selected compositions by Zbigniew Preisner, Ran Bagno, and Silver Mt. Zion.

PROGRAM:

Eleftheros / Free
Choreographed by Alessandra Corona in collaboration with the Company
What does freedom feel like? Eleftheros dives into this question using the visceral language of the body—twisting, expanding, resisting, and yielding. This work explores the emotional terrain of liberation, where movement becomes research, and the stage a space of transformation. The dance navigates the tensions between constraint and release, inviting the audience into the fluid, shifting experience of what it means to be free.

Original Music by Thomas Lentakis
Music: Georges Moustaki "Le métèque", "Ma Solitud", "Ma Libertat"

Rough Surface
Choreographed by Francesca La Cava in collaboration with the Company
Inspired by the ancient stones of Sardinia, Rough Surface begins with a study of forms that appear fixed yet hold within them stories of resilience, transformation, and identity. These millennial stones, rich with memory and sound, evoke generations of movement and voice. Francesca La Cava, together with the Company, brings this vision to life with bold and innovative choreography that celebrates the soul, elasticity, and living presence of the stone.

Original Music by Thomas Lentakis
"The stone has a soul, memory, and elasticity." – Pinuccio Sciola

Ashes to Ashes
Choreographed by Simon Kuban
In this haunting and visceral piece, Ashes to Ashes traverses the themes of mortality, transformation, and remembrance. The choreography speaks of loss, surrender, and rebirth, moving through fragile thresholds between life and the unknown. With raw and poetic intensity, Simon Kuban crafts a visual and emotional journey where each gesture echoes both grief and renewal.
