Anna Sperber IN-PERSON // NYC Outside Class

Register: http://www.freeskewl.com/outside--nyc.html

Ground and Sky with Anna Sperber

Saturday, June 5th at 12-1:30pm

DESCRIPTION:
We will move through a guided warm up together drawing on somatic practices and anatomical imagery to find ease, articulation and support through the pathways of our bodies. Through improvisational scores, and movement sequences we will move to cultivate a grounded relationship with the space inside and outside ourselves and to find freedom and activation through the shared time of dancing together, for ourselves and each other.

BIO:
Anna Sperber is a choreographer, performer and teacher originally from Brooklyn, NY. Her work has been described by The New York Times as “immediately compelling” and “wonderfully strange” with “moments of theatrical magic.” Her performances are rooted in the potential for perceptual transformation, embodying a tension between formality and chaotic wildness. Sperber’s work has been commissioned by The Kitchen, The Joyce Theater’s UNLEASHED Series at New York Live Arts, Gibney Dance, The Chocolate Factory, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and Dance Theater Workshop in New York City, as well as by the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC. She has been an artist in residence at the Marble House Project, Bogliasco Foundation, The Yard, MacDowell, Yaddo, CPR, Gibney Dance/ Dance in Process, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, LMCC on Governors Island, and Movement Research.

WEATHER:
If class cannot be held due to inclement weather, this class will be rescheduled for another time when we can gather outside. No Zoom!

PAYMENT:

Though we request pre-registration, we recommend paying for class at the event. We cannot accommodate refunds and the weather is unpredictable!
