Learn to move with Ronald K. Brown in an open dance workshop that focuses on his seamless integration of traditional African and contemporary movement styles. Then, participate in a short collective dance performance with Brown and Evidence company members in Madison Square Park.

Ronald K. Brown founded Evidence Dance Company in 1985, which aims to promote the understanding of the human experience in the African Diaspora through dance and storytelling. The company endeavors to provide sensory connections to history and tradition throughout movement, music, and spoken word to lead into deeper issues of spirituality, community responsibility, and liberation. Brown has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2015 Doris Duke Artist Award, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Choreographer’s Fellowship, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, United States Artists Fellowship, The Ailey Apex Award for teaching and named Def Dance Jam Workshop Mentor of the Year. Brown is a current member of Stage Directors & Choreographers Society.
