Ben Munisteri: Elemental Complexity

Ben Munisteri’s eight-member dance group performs four dances that reference a torrent of natural phenomena through formal design.

Set to a harmonious score by composer Derek Muro, Tin (50) (2017) refers obliquely to the utility of the 50th element in the period chart, and Plexus (premiere) offers convoluted, interdependent patterns among five dancers. Permafrost (premiere), danced to Satie piano pieces, melts compositionally as well as emotionally, and Petrichor (2015) celebrates a freshness derived from only a handful of dance phrases, manipulated and edited into a whole.
