Dance Visions NY, Long Island’s celebrated contemporary dance company, under the direction of Beth Jucovy, has put together a work incorporating the talents of two other prominent local artists, composer Paul Joseph and visual artist Susan Ruth Cohen. These three artists have collaborated to create a multi-disciplinary dance work based on themes inspired by the images and words of Ms. Cohen’s book, “Colorsong,” including original choreography, original music, a large, paper sculpture and other objects. The piece opens with the artist assembling the sculpture. When a dancer enters the space and flippantly takes it apart, all sorts of havoc ensues.  Colors and energy, personified in the dancers, are let loose in a flurry of expression and movement. The original dancer searches for meaning and order, attempting to make sense of the mayhem she released. ColorSong Universe depicts a  universe of matter, auras and relationships; a world of individuals and interactions which can be applicable to all matter ranging from the cosmos, to human life to the subatomic. Colorsong Dancers: Danielle Atkinson, Louisa Armstrong, Laura Marciano, Nichole Piacenza, with Beth Jucovy. Performance of this piece includes Paul Joseph playing his original piano work live.

Other works in the library programs feature Dance Visions NY's highly commended presentations of authentic Isadora Duncan repertory. Included are Duncan's dances to the Brahms waltzes, opus 39 known as "The many faces of love", the impassioned and profound Scriabin Etudes. In addition this program will include Duncan's dance to Chopin's Funeral March, an exquisite, moving dance; a Ducan masterpiece passed on to  Adrienne Ramm exclusively, by the late Julia Levien.

New works by  choreographers Cathleen Deutscher with Kelly Alifano and a work by Danielle Kipnis round out the program. 

The Duncan works also include Adrienne Ramm, Vanessa Ferranti and Cathleen Deutscher. Kelly Alifano joins Ms. Deutscher in her new work.
