Biography
Born in the north of France, Guillaume Gabrile graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Marseille, he studied dance at the Rosella Hightower Cannes Dance School. He worked with various choreographers (Bruno Jacquin, Sosana Marcellino, Thierry Smits) and is the co-founder of Compagnie Hervé KOUBI and assists Hervé KOUBI for all his creations, as well as serving as the production and education programs manager for the company.
Class Description
Guillaume Gabriel’s class will culminate with phrase material from the Ce Que Le Jour Doit à La Nuit (What Day Owes the Night), an innovative work that affirms multi-culturism. This work incorporates a variety of movement styles including urban and contemporary dance, capoeira, and martial arts. Class will begin with a short warm up, incorporating qualities of movement relevant to this work. Emphasis will be placed on the “plié”, the weightedness, fluidity, and amplitude of the movement. Mr. Gabriel will incorporate Compagnie Hervé Koubi’s philosophy and approach to dancing, which is that, “Dance is not for me a succession of movements ; I prefer to think of it as a path we walk through.”
