Coupé Décalé, a dance style and movement originating from the Ivory Coast, started as a lifestyle in Paris, with influences from Ndombolo Congolese dance. According to Oulouy, Coupé Décalé music is a fusion of Congolese Rumba, Hip-Hop and Caribbean music. The dance technique is energetic and involves full-body movement. You’ll experience a lot of hip movement and footwork. Students will enjoy learning foundations and combinations using elements seen during class.
Oulouy is a dancer, teacher and model of Ivorian descent, based in Barcelona, Spain. Oulouy is also the co-director of the dance platform, I Love This Dance. Since his youth, Oulouy has been dancing African styles for fun, enjoying the cultural fruits of his ancestral home. Today, he participates in dance battles, teaches dance classes, organizes events and works as a community manager for media companies.
