Donation-based workshop: Butch Merigoni

Butch Merigoni is opening this Fall's Dance to the People-BAX series with a two-day workshop on Playground Games and Performance. Come to one or both for more fun!

Playground Games and Performance is a workshop led by the Brooklyn based artist, Butch Merigoni. Using playground and performance based games like Tag, Capture The Flag and Down By 30, this class will address the use of play as it relates to performance practice. 

*All skill levels welcome. 
*Wear comfy clothes. 

The workshop will be in 3 parts... 

Part 1
-Tag
-Capture The Flag 
-Dodge Ball

Why play these games?
-They’re a ton of fun.
-They help us get out of our heads and into our bodies. 
-They help cultivate awareness, promote risk taking and strengthen  
our tolerance for uncertainty.

Part 2
-The Ten Word Story
-Zen Counting 

Why play these games? 
-They’re hilarious.  
-They help foster our capacity for the unpredictable. 

Part 3
-Down By 30
-Same Idea Further

Why play these games?
-At this point, you probably know the first reason why. 
-These games put our own performative research into a place of 
uninhibited exploration. 
-These games have nothing to do with success or failure, it’s all 
about the attempt.
