EXCHANGE provides a meeting point for professional dancers to showcase their choreographic work and engage in dialogue about process.

Internationally renowned dance-maker and teacher of choreography, Susan Rethorst, is The Bell House's honored guest artist for 2016. She will be spending much time with festival participants at performances and roundtable discussions as well as an exclusive workshop on Rethorst's signature method of choreographic Wrecking (c). 

15 works will perform on a proscenium stage distilled to space and simple lighting for a series of informal performances.  Following the informal viewings, artists are invited to join a round table discussion about ideas and ways of working.

Three peer-reviewed accepted submissions will contest for a “Best of the Fest” honor and awarded a second performance in the Saturday night Gala performance along with dance film shorts on the nature of making art in dance and 2 Director-curated performances by local choreographers.

Join us Thursday, August 25th at 7pm for a pre-party and dancefilm screening of The Need to Dance by Lataster-Czisch and Peter Lataster on the life and work of Flemish-Moroccan choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
