FREE Pop-Up Cherry Blossom Performance by Alison Cook Beatty Dance!

Alison Cook Beatty Dance
Join us for a FREE pop-up performance in Central Park! This Sunday, April 27th, at 12:30 pm, Alison Cook Beatty Dance will be performing an excerpt of GRACE under the Sakura. Artistic Director Alison Cook-Beatty was inspired by the symbolism of the Cherry Blossoms when she choreographed the dance in 2014 – a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. Japan presented New York with Yoshino cherry trees in 1912 as a symbol of friendship. With so much conflict happening in the world today, let’s remember these petals of happiness.
Company members Ava Trochiano, Ioanna Ioannides, Jacob Blank, and Maddie Burnett will also be dancing a structured improv to music by Japanese pianist and composer Naoko Hashimoto from her album Visions from the Piano. Naoko gave her beautiful music to Alison as a gift from Japan; Alison and the dancers send their dance in return as a gift of thanks.
DIRECTIONS: From 5th Ave and E 84th St, walk west into the park with the museum on your left, walking up the walkway until you reach East Drive. Cross East Drive (watch for bikes and runners) and you will see us under the beautiful pink flowering trees. If you have any trouble finding us, please call 917-409-7773. (A map is available at the link attached.)
