Free workshop for disabled dancers for "live sculpture court" by Heidi Latsky

Live sculpture participants at the Queens Unisphere Unisphere - Heather Mazlum-McKoy

Attend a free training/rehearsal workshop for disabled dancers.  Take part in On Display Queens a “live sculpture court” in celebration of the United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities and part of a worldwide initiative On Display Global.

ON DISPLAY by Heidi Latsky Dance (heidilatskydance.org/ondisplay) is a deconstructed art exhibit/fashion show and commentary on the body as a spectacle and society’s obsession with body image.  It turns a diverse cast into a sculpture court of living statues that celebrates every body and will confront and challenge internal prejudice toward atypical bodies. .  This movement installation will involve focus, stillness, and structured improvisation.

We are looking for a physically integrated, all-inclusive cast: All ages (18+), genders, body types, including those with visible disabilities, races, and nationalities.  No previous formal training in this technique required.

All training/rehearsals/performances will take place in Queens.  (Must be able to provide your own transportation.)

Performance: December 3, 2018 (at Queens Theatre).  This performance is part of a worldwide celebration at the UN and all ON DISPLAY GLOBAL locations.

Attend a training/rehearsal workshop in Long Island City: Monday, Nov 12 (2-3:30pm) or Monday, Nov 12 (3:30-5pm).

All performance participants will receive photos and/or footage of their performance.  Students can also receive community service hours.

To sign up for a training/rehearsal workshop or for more information, please contact ondisplayqueens@outlook.com.  Please include your name and your availability for the training and performance dates above.
