Hilary Clark (Morning Class)

We'll begin slowly with simple exercises and scores influenced by my ongoing studies in fascia and energetic and somatic modalities, then moving on to improvisations and set phrase material. We’ll consider methods and questions for ourselves around vulnerability, rebellion, ability and perceived lack of ability. This class is a supportive permissive space meant to deepen our practice and availability to our own work as performers. We will explore the body as our teacher and seek to better understand our choices, seeing the dancer as also a maker.

A dancer in a black tutu and leotard and pointe shoes stands on one leg, with the other leg extended behind the body in a straight line. One arm is raised above the head and the other extended to the back parallel to the extended leg. The school director is opposite the dancer and wears a red DTH logo t-shirt and black pants and ballet slippers. She holds the hand of the arm raised above the dancer’s head with one arm and her back arm is extended and she is smiling at the student.
