Isadora Duncan: Access

Dances by Isadora (directed by Catherine Gallant) invites all interested and curious movers to join our upcoming FREE workshops in person at the Mark Morris Dance Center and via Zoom on Saturdays, November 5, December 10 and January 7, 3:15-5pm. We will continue these monthly workshops into 2023. Look for updates on dates and times.

Duncan is quoted as saying that she never taught her students to dance but rather asked them to appeal to their spirits. How do we renew and build upon this vision of self-empowerment for a diverse and inclusive dance community? In an effort to remove barriers to participation, these workshops are offered FREE of charge. You must register before attending by email at dancesbyisadora@gmail.com. There is also an option to participate remotely on Zoom. Link will be sent upon sign-up.

The November 5th workshop session will explore, deconstruct and re-imagine a solo work from Duncan's early period, 1900-1912. Connecting to our own time, we bring 21st century energies and understandings to enliven the work through re-examination, questioning, transparency and acknowledgement.

Please join us. All are welcome.
