Krishna Christine Washburn's Darkroom Ballet: Tuition-Free Dance Classes for Adults who are Visually Impaired or Blind

In a dance studio, dance artist Krishna Washburn extends her right leg and points her toes while raising her left arm.

Infinity Dance Theater is pleased to present teaching artist Krishna Christine Washburn’s Darkroom Ballet introductory dance classes - currently offered remotely via Zoom - for adults who are visually impaired or blind. Advance registration is required. Email chris@infinitydance.com to express interest.

While “ballet” is in the name and the classes are concert dance-based, Darkroom Ballet participants will develop a broad toolbox of critical skills that prepare them to sign up for an intro dance class in any style elsewhere in the future. Among other benefits, the program builds skills in the areas of directional hearing, internally-based balance, and foot sensitivity. No prior dance experience is required.

In-person classes will return when it is safe to resume public classes.

Infinity Dance Theater is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, and Harkness Foundation for Dance as well as other generous donors.
