Lydia Johnson Dance will hold a Repertory Workshop + Audition at Peridance Capezio Center.
WORKSHOP CLASSES:
Wednesday-Friday, September 5-7, 10-11:30am
AUDITION:
Saturday, September 8, 12-2pm

Each day during the Repertory Workshop, material from a different piece of the LJD repertory will be presented and explored. Ms. Johnson's vocabulary is ballet-based with modern, gestural and drop-and-release components. Ms. Johnson and Company dancers will emphasize individual interpretations of each combination and phrase with special focus on linking the movement to the music. LJD’s focus in performance is on the ability of each dancer to express the choreography with an individual, musically intelligent voice. Rather than working to attain a uniform quality, LJD dancers strive to bring their own personal vision into the phrases Ms Johnson choreographs. Works used in the workshop are set to composers Osvaldo Golijov, Marc Mellitts, JS Bach, Mozart and Brad Mehldau. A short warm-up will be included.

AUDITION (Saturday, September 8, at Peridance)
LJD is seeking highly musical and individual dancers with strong ballet technique for contemporary work. Full company and apprentice positions are available for ongoing work. LJD generally rehearses in NYC on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons and offers competitive performance pay.

Dancers are encouraged to register in advance by emailing lydiajohnsondancenyc@gmail.com

Please do not email resumes or headshots, but do bring them, if available, to the audition.
