Mufutau Yusuf: Òwe

Close up head shot of person with his hand raised to below his face. Davide Belotti

"When the charismatic Mufutau Yusuf is onstage, it’s hard to look anywhere else"—GIA KOURLAS, THE NEW YORK TIMES

Seen previously in New York at 92Y’s Fridays at Noon series and at La MaMa with Irish Modern Dance Theatre, the thrilling, ascendant contemporary dancer Mufutau Yusuf makes his full-length NYC choreographic debut with the solo performance Òwe

Meaning “proverb” in the Yoruba language, Òwe uses an electric movement vocabulary of both traditional and modern form to decode the Irish-Nigerian artist’s personal and ancestral identities. Four performances only.
