Company: Ralph Lee's Mettawee River Theatre Company
Venue: Outdoor Garden at St. John the Divine
Location: NY, NY
Celebrated puppet, mask and giant figure creator RALPH LEE presents "OUT OF THE PAST: Celebrating 40 Years of the Mettawee Journey," a feast of scenes from past presentations with Mettawee's signature masks, puppets and giant figures. Lee's work has been seen in productions at the Metopolitan Opera, the Living Theatre, the Lincoln Center Repertory Theatre, even Saturday Night Live (that naughty "Land Shark"). His awards include a Fulbright Scholarship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, 2 OBIES, 2 American Theatre Wing Design Awards, a Bessie, and more. The expert company of actor/singer/puppeteers will enact scenes from Lee's "The Woman Who Fell From the Sky" (from the Iroquois creation story), "Taliesin" (from a medieval Welsh tale); "The Old Boat Goddess" (from the indigenous Ainu people of Japan), and much more.
