PARTNERING CLASS

PARTNERING CLASS

Now offering a community dance PARTNERING class open to dancers and choreographers. We are two friends and dancers in the NY dance circuit.  Our aim is to provide a space for those interested in pursuing dance training, improvisation, choreography and movement research collectively...

WHO : ELLE ERDMAN & NICOLA COLLIE

WHERE : 100 GRAND DANCE https://100grandsoho.wordpress.com/

WHEN : THURSDAYS 6-8 PM - start date 3/12

$10

This lab is geared towards dancers and choreographers of all levels ready to explore guided-improvisation through simple partnering exercises.  As we find support from the floor and our connection to space, we'll play with the energetic flow and physics between bodies and gravity in duet form. We'll play with the partnering skills of rolling, releasing weight and breath, falling and catching as well as weight sharing in motion.  Class ends by learning combinations from each other and putting them into duets creating mini dances.  Though we will lead class with a certain structure and aim in mind, we are open to improvisation, ideas and input from all involved with hopes of achieving a free-flowing, creative class form. Let's see where our bodies and inspirations take us!

Elle Erdman is a dancer/choreographer currently studying Body-Mind Centering.  She has recently collaborated on fashion/music videos and live performances with musicians including Mary Lattimore, Glass Gang, Apiece Apart, Eckhaus Latta among various other artists/choreographers including Jimena Paz, Christine Elmo, Ei Arakawa, Jessie Gold, Noemie LaFrance and Philippe Parreno.  Elle is most excited to make site-specific dance in the cities of New York and Berlin, Germany.  You can find her performance videos on imoveyoumove.tumblr.com

Born and bred in New Zealand, Nic is a Brooklyn based dance artist. She jumped ship across the ditch to Australia in 2011 upon acceptance into The Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Nic graduated with a Bachelor of Dance in 2013, accompanied by that charming twang in her accent.  She mainly focuses on dance for film, but also loves to choreograph and perform live with an emphasis on structured improvisation.
