PORTALS: Dusan Tynek Dance Theatre

The 2nd and final week of Dusan Tynek Dance Theatre's NYC performance season features the world-premiere of "Portals" with live performance by the renowned string quartet ETHEL! Set to a driving score by acclaimed contemporary composer Aleksandra Vrebalov, "Portals" utilizes a unique two-stage platform to explore themes of displacement and the formation of identity that transcends boundaries. ETHEL also accompanies the exciting new work Widow's Walk". The program also includes audience favorite "Transparent Walls" (2010), also to music by Vrebalov. The NY Times writes that "Tynek is an undoubted talent [with] a gift for creating inventive, luscious movement and an instinct for theatrical effect". Acclaimed as America's premier post-classical string quartet, ETHEL invigorates contemporary music with refreshing exuberance, fierce intensity, and exceptional artistry.
