This annual fall showcase features artists from Pentacle’s Gallery and guests: Alison Cook Beatty Dance, Ariel Rivka Dance, General Mischief Dance Theatre, Mariah Maloney Dance, Obika Dance and The Moving Architects.

Alison Cook Beatty Dance will perform HEROIC DEPARTURE, inspired by and based on the American Heroine Amelia Earhart and her life and final journey of departure around the world. 

Ariel Rivka Dance will perform two selections from their repertoire: Hallelujah Eva (2016) which shows five women dancers exploring solitude, and consequently finding empowerment through shared experience; and Variations on a Box (2016), with a pulsating live score, which drives the full company of eight dancers to explore the constraints of shape and sound. 

General Mischief Dance Theatre will perform Knotted, commissioned by and premiered at the Higher Ground Festival and Suite Shel, inspired by the poems of Shel Silverstein.

Mariah Maloney Dance will perform three short works from their touring repertoire: Between (2015), a quirky yet silky and curious trio exploring the empty space and shadows we experience when someone transitions from this world; Space Pixilation II (2015) exploits the possibilities of the female body inside detailed and repetitive articulations with original composition and performance by Richard DeLaney; and Rock (2011), created through the sensing body, reflecting life shaping our being - how we feel and move is informed by our life experience.

Obika Dance performs Blood. Water & Salt (an excerpt from Menace Cyclone) which explores the connection between human and sea. Come dive in the depth of the ocean, come dive into the biomythology of the earth's womb, genetically inclined to womynfest blood recollections of the blue-black cyclone and its travel to earth.

The Moving Architects performs The Groove, a remake of their 2012 creation. It emphasizes the social order of four strong female dancers in states of equality or hierarchy.
