Sundays on Broadway presents a shared evening with Mina Nishimura, Miriam Parker, Marilyn Maywald Yahel
Cathy Weis Projects and guest curators Jon Kinzel and Vicky Shick welcome Mina Nishimura, Miriam Parker, and Marilyn Maywald Yahel to Sundays on Broadway.
Marilyn Maywald Yahel is joined by performers Jennifer Lafferty & Melanie Maar to generate a dance where steps are constructed by the deconstruction of impulse.
Mina Nishimura will be showing a short segment of material, which is part of her new evening-length work, Bladder Inn. (and X, Y, Z, W). The work is a quest for supposedly long-lost form of a body. The slippery journey is contained and held by a specific architecture of a performance venue.
Miriam Parker looks at movement and life as relating to a pendulum: a body suspended from a fixed point, as to move to and fro by the action of gravity and acquired momentum. Horology: a swinging lever, weighted at the lower end for regulating the speed of a clock mechanism. Something that tends to move from one position, condition, etc., to the opposite extreme and then back again. In a democratic society the pendulum of political thought swings left then right.
All Sundays on Broadway events begin at 6:00 pm. Doors open at 5:45 pm at WeisAcres. Keep in mind, this is a small space. Please arrive on time out of courtesy to the artists.
Sundays on Broadway events are free and open to the public.
