Tap Teacher Training - Certificate Program

 

Dates for the 2016 Level 1 Training:

Sunday, July 17 – Sunday, July 24, 2016: Intensive week at the ATDC in NYC

August 2016 – February 2017: Trainees complete mentored independent work in their home communities.

February 19, 2017: Evaluations for Level 1 Certificate - Trainees will submit materials digitally for evaluation and do not return to NYC for exams.

Tuesday, July 19 – Sunday, July 24, 2016: Intensive at the ATDC in NYC.

August 2016 – February 2017: Trainees complete mentored independent work in their home communities.

February 19, 2017: Evaluations. Trainees submit materials digitally to mentors for evaluation for Level 2 Certificate. (Trainees do not return to NYC for exams).

 

The American Tap Dance Foundation's Tap Teacher Training Program provides the essential skills to teach rhythm tap to children, teens and adults. This comprehensive curriculum gives a solid and progressive foundation for beginning through advanced level tap dance teaching.
July 2016 Training includes:

45+ hours of class time with expert faculty
Rhythm tap technique
Copasetic Canon repertory
Rhythm tap pedagogy
Jazz Music concepts
Tap composition and improvisation
Tap history
Mentored independent work
Certificate issues by the American Tap Dance Foundation
Scholarships are available

The ATDF Tap Teacher Training Certificate Program offers an approach to teaching rhythm tap based in the classic tap repertory of the Copasetics, the famed ensemble of rhythm tap stars. Combined with the artistic vision and teachings of Brenda Bufalino, the Copasetic Canon Curriculum has been adapted into a clear and technically solid approach to teaching youth, teen and adult students at the American Tap Dance Center in New York. The Copasetic Canon Curriculum is now is available to all tap teachers--and to advanced tap dancers who want to gain teaching skills.
