United We Dance

United We Dance

https://www.facebook.com/events/160603594373089/?ti=iclEach 1 Teach One Dance Series has always held as its core mission to unify the

community through dance and education. Over the course of the last few years as events

involving excessive use of police force have come to light over social media with

alarming frequency, we decided we could no longer remain silent and it was time to take

a stand. Hip-hop as a culture was created by African-Americans and Latinos, so the

effects of these events are keenly felt within our communities.

These workshops to be held on September 3rd, 2016 are meant to bring unity and

light amongst each other while providing a safe space for dancers to come together and

engage with each other through their love for dance. We endeavor to create discourse

between instructor and students about social-political affairs that effect everyone in our

community while still having fun doing what we love. We want to raise awareness for the

#BlackLivesMatter campaign and its TRUE mission and spread positivity through our art

form.

We are NOT anti-police; we are pro-community engagement and civil discourse

among all parties. We feel that it is imperative for us as a dance community, now, more

than ever, to come together and show our support for one another, across racial, ethnic,

and political lines. [Christina M. Pagan, Author, PR]
