Virtual Intensive "Dancing with the Camera: Concept to Delivery"

A dancer moves amongst tall reeds. All in black, looking up at the sky, arms reach up. Olga Rabetskaya

Following the overwhelming success of our first Dancing with the Camera Virtual Intensive, GALLIM has designed this deeper dive into your creative practice in front of and behind the camera. Take your film concept from ideation to film festival delivery in this focused 6 day program, split between 2 long weekends. Participants will learn the essentials of developing a concept for film, pre-production, cinematography and editing, camera performance studies and directing, film distribution and finding their story.

Each student will complete an original dance film by the end of the intensive.

Through lessons in theory, movement workshops, guided work sessions, guest talks, and one-on-one feedback, students will move through the steps of bringing their artistic vision into the world through the medium of film.

For over a decade Andrea Miller has developed, codified and taught a comprehensive method for artistic creation based upon principles of individual and collective inquiry, co-creativity and interdisciplinarity. This method has shaped GALLIM into a home for creative discovery, a nexus for many voices from many disciplines to come together and share wisdom, dreams and the making of great things. We are honored to share Dancing with the Camera: A Deeper Dive with our collaborators and partners Ben Stamper and Andrew Ellis from Helix Films, GALLIM Creative Associate Emily Terndrup, and our brilliant guest artist's to be announced soon!
