American Dance Guild

Call for Choreography
2011 Performance Festival
February 24-27, 2011

Deadline: October 30, 2010

After great enthusiasm and sold out performances at our Festival in 2009, the American Dance Guild (ADG) continues its mission of serving artists and audiences. For our 2011 Performance Festival, we invite applications from contemporary dance artists of diverse backgrounds, ages and aesthetics throughout the United States and internationally.

We are very excited to be holding our festival at the beautiful Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (now under new management and technical direction!) located at 248 West 60th Street in New York City . This is a terrific space -- 32' x32' performance area, high ceilings, and an audience capacity of 170. Four different programs will be presented during the festival on February 24-27, 2011.

ADG is dedicated to presenting the range and diversity of expression in current dance art practice and how it interfaces with our historical modern dance roots. This year we will be featuring work by dance legend, Jane Dudley, and celebrated choreographer Paul Sanasardo, mentor and teacher to Pina Bausch among many others. Paul, now located in Chicago , will be here to teach a master class at MMAC.

If you applied in the past and were not accepted, PLEASE apply again! Feel free to circulate this form. Submissions will be adjudicated by an invited group of professionals in the field.

Technical Requirements

Since each program may include 7-8 different pieces the tech requirements must be kept to a minimum. If you want to include film or video you must be prepared to bring your own equipment and be able to set it up within the allotted tech time.

Each choreographer will be expected to contribute two hours of work. This can include putting out flyers at dance studios, helping backstage, box office, ushers, reception, etc.
