Give to Dance!

November 23, 2010

Dear Friend:

Give to dance!

This is a moment of transition and opportunity for Dance/NYC, which since 2001 has been the voice, guide and infrastructure architect for New York City's dance community-serving all of its artists, managers, policymakers and audiences.

As a New Yorker and a dancer by training and at heart, I am delighted to have been named Director of Dance/NYC this year, when its work to strengthen dance in New York City is more important than ever before. Dance/NYC has responded to recent challenges by increasing its advocacy for the field and innovating on programs to engage audiences, increase dance funding and drive artistic and management collaborations.

For the first time, Dance/NYC presented the New York Dance and Performance Awards (the Bessies), drawing together a community over 700 strong to celebrate dance and its contributions to the city's creative life. Click here for a video of the awards ceremony.

Other Dance/NYC firsts in 2010: a mid-season symposium, dancer health screenings, a discussion series with Gibney Dance, a college fair at the Juilliard School and the launch of a new Web site for audience and management resources: www.dancenyc.org.

Please help us strengthen dance in NYC by giving now: www.dancenyc.org/donate.php

100% of your donation is tax-deductible and will go directly to our programs and advocacy.

Your support of Dance/NYC supports the entire New York City dance community.

Sincerely yours,

Lane

One arm is raised above the head and the other extended to the back parallel to the extended leg. The school director is opposite the dancer and wears a red DTH logo t-shirt and black pants and ballet slippers. She holds the hand of the arm raised above the dancer’s head with one arm and her back arm is extended and she is smiling at the student.
