America’s diversity–fueled in great part by immigrants–makes us stronger and more connected as a nation.

Since June of 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month has given people across the United States an opportunity to explore their own heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that forms the unique story of America. This belief fueled the wildly successful 2016 launch of the ‘I Am An Immigrant’ campaign, which encourages all Americans to celebrate the monumental contributions that immigrants have made—and continue to make every day.

This year, we’re using hashtag #CelebrateImmigrants. This inclusive hashtag will prompt storytelling and give everyone an opportunity to share why they celebrate immigrants during IHM and year round.

In light of recent media reports of family separation, we recognize that this remains a challenging time and many may not feel like celebrating right now. It’s important to continue to work to change the narrative about immigration in the U.S. That’s why for this IHM launch, we will also be amplifying the message #FamiliesBelongTogether to echo the call being made by mothers and fathers in communities across America right now. We encourage our diverse partner network to rally behind the content suggestions that feel best for them.

In connection with this year’s theme, we will celebrate and honor the courage of all immigrants past and current over the course of June, and encourage everyone to share stories about immigrant parents, grandparents, and/or immigrant families and uplift the courage, sacrifice, and resilience in their decision to come to the U.S. This is an opportunity to celebrate courage as we #CelebrateImmigrants.
