Disability. Dance. Artistry. was prepared by Anne Coates, with a foreword by Simi Linton, and in collaboration with Dance/NYC's Disability. Dance. Artistry. Task Force and featured speakers at Dance/NYC's Disability. Dance. Artistry. convening on July 8, 2015. The study was made possible with leadership support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. It is part of Dance/NYC’s initiative to increase inclusion and access to the arts and culture for disabled people, which was launched with seed funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The study responds to Dance/NYC’s prior quantitative analyses at the nexus of disability and dance, Discovering Disability: Data & NYC Dance.
