Arts Administration Internship

Dancing in the Streets is seeking an intern with an interest in public art, community engagement, economic development, and social justice.  The selected intern will be an integral part of a small team, work closely with Dancing in the Streets' Artistic and Executive Director, and receive mentorship and experience in all aspects of running an arts organization, including management, marketing, development, programming, and production.  In addition to interns' primary responsibilities, they will also work on digitizing and organizing archival materials and assist with fundraising, marketing, production, or administrative responsibilities when needed.

INTERNSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:
A passion for integrating the performing arts into community building and social justice
A minimum of 6 months experience in primary area of responsibility
Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Reliable self-starter who is also a team player
Ability to multitask and work effectively under deadline
Relevant computer skills

TERMS OF INTERNSHIP:
Start and end dates are flexible
10-20 hours per week
College credit with intern’s academic institution
Unpaid

DANCING IN THE STREETS presents FREE adventurous, community-based, public performances in unexpected places. Since moving to the Bronx in 2011, Dancing in the Streets aims to reclaim, revitalize, and promote natural, architectural, and cultural treasures of the borough; and contribute to its cultural renaissance through free community-based public dance, interdisciplinary, and site-specific performances and community and educational programs.

In fall 2014, Dancing in the Streets established a long-term partnership with the not-for-profit South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) through which the two organizations are developing initiatives that will use the arts as a catalyst for developing a safe, vibrant, and economically sound South Bronx that serves community needs and reflects and fosters the distinct character and cultural history of the South Bronx.
