Short Film - "Humans are Telephones"

Looking to cast a male modern/interpretive dancer (25-40) to play the lead villain in the NYU student film, "Humans are Telephones". Shooting dates are November 20th-22nd during the days. We will be filming within the five burroughs. Seeking submissions from within the burroughs/just outside the city.

Auditions being held early this coming week (November 16th-18th).

Summary:

Humans Are Telephones" is a parabolic, dark comedy short that takes place in a parallel universe in which humans are born with the capabilities of telephones. Due to this evolution, it is physically impossible for someone to be truly alone, as there is no way to disconnect or become unreachable. Our protagonist is Flip, a high school boy who just wants to be alone with his thoughts. However, it seems that all of society is constantly fighting for his attention, and to escape, he may have to do something drastic.

Role:

'Razor' is imposing and mercurial. He is the mysterious leader of the occult group Do Not Disturb. The group goes on retreats into the wilderness where they dangerously let their batteries run out, thus disconnecting. Razor was born with a rare disability that prevents him from ever being able to communicate verbally; though silent and deaf to human speech, he has a rich and visceral inner life. Razor’s main scene is a strange interpretive/modern dance about his lifelong desire and inability to communicate with others.

Please send an email to: Sw2430@nyu.edu if interested in auditioning.

Note: Demonstration of dancing style/technique will be required for audition. This is not a speaking role.
