xyz nyc is a new approach to modern dance-making in New York City. Bringing the choreographic process to a reality-TV-inspired format, we invite modern dance-makers to meet for the first time and create an entirely new performance-ready piece in a single week.

Intro Meeting: Thursday, April 14th from 5-6pm
Show: Thursday, April 21st at 7pm (call time 6pm)

Location: The Tank at the Playroom Theater | 151 W 46th St | 8th Floor

April is the Championship Round, which brings the previous 3 choreographic winners (Vanessa Long, Erin Carlisle Norton, and whoever wins on 3/24) together for a show that determines who will win an evening-length show of their choreography at the Tank.   

After each dance, this month's guest judge, choreographer Alexandra Beller, provides feedback, but the audience ultimately picks the winner.  Despite the competition structure of the show, the vibe is encouraging, welcoming, and incredibly respectful of what the choreographers and dancers have accomplished in one week. In addition, all of the choreographers receive positive audience feedback and a professionally shot video of their new piece.
