Dancers-performers for Public Movement action

Public Movement is seeking 4 dancers-performers for a site-specific action at a major

New York City museum. Development and presentation will take place from September

15 – 25, 2016.

Public Movement is a performative research body established in 2006 by Omer Krieger

and Dana Yahalomi, its director since 2011. The group initiates and creates activities

within the public sphere bringing together, with audience participation, politics and art.

Public Movement studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order, overt

and covert rituals. It explores the political and aesthetic possibilities that reside in a

group of people acting together. The performative action planned for September 2016

evolves from a body of research in and around museums, their collections and parallel

political costructions.

Key Qualifications

• Must be a charismatic, dedicated professional performer interested

in exploring intensive, immersive encounters

• Excellent physical shape and ability to perform over an extended

number of hours

• An understanding of political history, and a desire to explore and

develop new forms of performance

• An understanding, interest and experience of durational

performance

Key Responsibilities:

• As the nature of the piece is based on a series of consecutive

performances with a direct relation to the audience members,

performers are responsible for displaying personal confidence and

high motivation to engage with participating audience members in

a uniquely focused way.

• Performer must be available for public performance on 22

September 2016 (5-8pm), 24 September (9am-7:45pm), 25

September (9am-6pm). (Hours TBC).

• Ability to attend rehearsals which will take place from September

12th to the 21st 2016, according to a schedule set by Public

Movement.
