ALL NIGHT LONG- a short film about dance

 

ALL NIGHT LONG- an NYU Thesis film about dancers is looking for two male dancers to play the leads. Acting experience a plus but not required, dance ability is far more important! Must be comfortable performing jazz/contemporary.

 

KEY DATES:

Auditions: Monday 7/15

Tentative rehearsals on weekends(not all dates will be necessary): 8/3-8/4, 8/10-8/11, 9/7-9/8

Shoots: 9/19-9/21, 9/26-9/27, 9/29

 

ROLES:

BEN-18 to 25, all ethnicities male. Ben is a middle class man from Long Island, and Arthur’s closest and oldest friend. After quitting dance, Ben agrees to become Arthur’s choreographer. On the surface, he is okay being a choreographer. He loves dancing but doesn’t like doing it in front of people, so this is the perfect way to utilize his skills. But deep down, he wants to be a star. Ben cares a lot about what other people think of him. (Must be experienced dancer and comfortable performing jazz/contemporary dance. Choreography experience a plus) LEAD.

 

ARTHUR-18 to 25, all ethnicities male. After dropping out of high school his career as a dancer is all he has, but his family sees his dancing as more of a hobby. Growing up, Ben was always the more talented dancer and Arthur was always the underdog. Now, with Arthur no longer competing, he is desperate to prove himself as a dancer. Arthur is in it all for himself. (Must be experienced dancer and comfortable performing jazz/contemporary dance.) LEAD.  

 

SYNOPSIS:

All Night Long" is a short NYU Thesis Film set in the 1980s that follows Ben, a shy and timid choreographer, and Arthur, his best friend who is a competitive dancer. Arthur wins a regional dance competition and is now heading to Nationals, making him the talk of his small town. But, tensions and true colors are unearthed between the two friends as the chance of stardom gets closer and closer. This film centers around the ideas of friendship, forgiveness, and self expression.
