Audition for Zeitgeist Dance Theatre

 
Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, Yusha-Marie Sorzano and Francisco Gella, Artistic Directors

Zeitgeist Dance Theatre (ZDT), is recruiting professional dancers, apprentices and trainees in anticipation for the new company's inaugural world premiere in Salt Lake City, Utah at the New Century Dance Project Festival during Summer 2020.

Artistic Directors: Yusha-Marie Sorzano and Francisco Gella

Dates and Locations: 

February 15 & 16: University of Southern California Kaufman School, Los Angeles

April 11 & 12: TBD in Philadelphia

 

Positions:

7 professional dancers (ages 20 and up)

2 apprentices (ages 18 and up)

15 trainees (preprofessional ages 14-19)

Eligibility: Professionals/Apprentice: Both men and women should be skilled in classical ballet, women need to be proficient en pointe. Applicants should have a varied background that includes experience in modern and contemporary dance. Additional training in other genres/styles and other art forms desired.

Trainees: At least three years of classical ballet training, modern, and contemporary, with cross-training in other styles preferred. Strong interest in pursuing a professional performance career.

Availability

Dancers must be initially available and willing to commit to rehearsals and performances from July 25 - August 16. Although attending one of the two live auditions in Los Angeles, CA on February 15 & 16 or Philadelphia on April 11 &12 is preferred, interested dancers unable to attend may submit required materials by email for consideration.

Pre-registration for live auditions is required Monday, February 10. To register please email the following information to info@zeitgeistdancetheatre.org

To inquire about auditioning for the Ballet Idaho company or trainee program on the same dates and in the same cities, email amueller@balletidaho.org. 

Dancers may opt to audition for both companies as initial commitments for each company during 2020/21 do not overlap. 

Electronic Submission

Although the live audition is preferred, we understand you may be unable to attend.  You may submit the following materials electronically to Zeitgeist for consideration:

Cover letter
Headshot
Dance photos (no more than three)
Resume
Link to video of rehearsal or class in studio (must be no longer than 1 minute)
Link to video of improvisation work (no more than 30 seconds)
Link to video of dancer making personal introduction (no more than 30 seconds)
Link to performance reel (must be no longer than 2 minutes). Reels must demonstrate clear phrase work. No jump cuts or highly edited material will be accepted.

All submissions should be emailed to info@zeitgeistdancetheatre.org no later than March 15.
