This workshop will begin with a brief narrative on context offering an overview of Joanna’s interspecies work with dancers and horses and its multiple applications, then move into fully embodied work. Participants will work solo, in dyads, and in full group explorations in guided investigations that will focus on finding spatial clarity, accessing a range of movement qualities, expressive play and clear communication. The group will work inside movement scores and devising strategies that will offer useful tools for educators, leaders, coaches, therapists. Application is varied including elementary through high school classrooms, recreational through professional dance training. Participants should expect to have FUN and come away with lots of useful tools and techniques. If there is time and interest, the workshop will include some video viewing of elementary classroom sessions, Physical Listening LABs and performance works with horses.
