Choreographers/Youth Ensembles /Emerging Artists Submission
Extended deadline to August 4th - (originally July 31st) 
We were recently made aware of a faulty service link - due to this issue, we have extended our original deadline to provide additional time to complete the application. 

Artistic Director, Joyce King/JKing Dance Company is requesting video submissions from Choreographers who work with Youth Ensembles or young emerging dancers. Two to three Choreographers/Ensembles will be chosen to perform their work as part of JKDC's 15th Anniversary Event in NYC. 

DETAILS

WHAT: ContinU...um - JKDC's 15th Anniversary Performance

WHEN: Saturday, October 26th, 2024 - 7:30 p.m performance/reception follows.
(Tech for chosen works will be scheduled for Saturday starting at 5:00) 

WHERE: The James & Martha Duffy Performance Space/Mark Morris Dance Center, 3 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA.

(60x60) modified proscenium theater, Marley sprung flooring, includes risers, all necessary masking and cyclorama, a repertory light plot specifically designed for dance, and a grid-mounted sound system.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
This call is open to all Independent Youth Ensembles/Groups and/or independent choreographers working with young emerging dancers. 

* Choreographers - any age. Dancers performing must be between the ages of 12 - 18.
* Length of work: maximum of 5 minutes
* Work must be original choreography and not a work-in-progress.
* Rehearsal footage is accepted. The video must be of the completed work to present in October.

At this performance, we are not able to accommodate works with live music, tap shoes, water, sand, glitter, feathers, fire, or large props(we do not have storage). If you have a question about props please email us at JKDCny@outlook.com. 

All choreographers are responsible for finding dancers, scheduling and paying for their own rehearsals, travel, music rights, costumes, etc. 

COMPENSATION - Chosen Ensembles receive
* 1-hour dance class taught by Joyce King - Oct 26th (4 - 5 pm) at the performance space
* Tech - 5:00/Performance - 7:30
* Invited to post-reception
* Professional video and two high-quality photos of your work.

FEES
$10 submission fee paid through Venmo or Paypal(updated PP link on form). You may submit up to (2) two videos. Each piece must have a separate application and fee. Work is not eligible until the fee is paid. If this fee poses a hardship, please contact us.  There are no production/performance costs to invited ensembles.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants work will be viewed/selected by 3-panel members using the following criteria:
*Originality, conceptual clarity of storyline, character development, and/or intent of proposed work.
*Demonstrated technique and accessibility.

NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS:
All applicants will be notified of the result of their application by Aug. 12th, 2024, or sooner. Choreographers/Ensembles awarded the opportunity will have (1) week to confirm their participation from the date of their original invite.
