Call for Black Women/Femme Artists-Futurists-Designers + Leaders of Spaces of Deep Connection (For 2024-25)
*an opportunity to gather, co-learn, commune, and connect*
An Invitation to 3:33
3:33 is the current cycle of our space building, bringing Black women/femme and women/femme artists, designers, scholars, medicine workers, and scientists together (especially uplifting queer, neurodivergent, and disabled folks) to co-create a space of deep connection. Our process involves researching ancestral/cultural/historical medicinal practices for building spaces of deep connection. We’ll use playful, recreational, or celebratory movement, art, and design to experiment with co-creating a space of deep connection, (individual) raw expression, and collective feeling. We’ll design an interactive performance-recreation-ritual-community space exploring our stories of grief, loss, death, conflict, suffering, transition, unknown post-2020 and grounding us in rituals of warrior-like strength, protection, belonging, divinity, and safety. We’ll design our interactive-performance-ritual-recreation space, while workshopping our interactive space with the public. With the public, we'll use playful, recreational, or celebratory movement, art, and design to experiment with co-creating a space of deep connection, (individual) raw expression, and collective feeling.
The Invitation: Aspiring, emerging, and professional women/femme artists, designers, scholars, futurists, scientists, medicine workers, and leaders of spaces of deep connection are invited to be a part of 3:33 by joining Our 2024-25 Collective for Space Design (Black women/femmes; paid), School for Space Design (all women/femmes; fee or work-study), or Building Team (all women/femmes; paid for team leaders). Over the course of our academic year together, we will experiment with co-creating a space of deep connection, while researching and experimenting with ancestral, historical, and cultural medicinal movement, art, and design practices. Women/femme artists, designers, and leaders participate in a three-week camp, followed by a drop-in lab on three different teams: research (researching medicinal practices for space design), teaching (experimenting with their own practices in space design), and space design (experimenting with co-creating our space of deep connection via collective movement practice). At our culminating gatherings and open house, Raw Movement artists, designers, and leaders lead us in experimenting with co-creating a space of deep connection, home, family through the medicinal movement, art, and design practices they have been experimenting with. We share what we have learned through our research, teaching, and space design experiments.

(Collective/School/Building Team), your eligibility, and your interest in The Collective/Building Team/School.Then, schedule a chat with me here: https://calendly.com/rawmovement/chat-with-justina. If you prefer an e-mail chat, you can let me know that as well.
-Informal Chat. We’ll chat (via e-mail, phone or video call) informally about your needs, desires, interests, and alignments with what we’re up to. This is not an interview but rather a conversation to see which Raw Movement activities might best align with you at the moment and how we might co-create them. In order to co-create, we’ll chat about what within our existing plans/schedule excites you, resonates, or produces discomfort.
-Request to Participate. If it is aligned, I’ll invite you to fill out a “Request to Participate” by August 7th, 2024 at this link for folks interested in the collective (Black women/femmes), school (women/femmes), and the building team (women/femmes): https://b24-jj9nbd.bitrix24.site/crm_form_whj7l/. Building Team applicants: include websites, resumes, or other documentations of relevant experiences within your request (in the Websites question). I recommend writing out brief responses to each question in a separate document and then copying and pasting your responses in when ready to submit .E-mail me at justina@rawmovement.org if you have questions about the form and the questions. Feel free to be super informal/brief with your responses; there is no need to impress or belabor the questions, as it is more like a final conversation in alignment than an application. If you need/desire an alternative way of requesting participation (e.g., a verbal conversation on these topics, voice or video recording your answers, etc.), reach out to me at justina@rawmovement.org.
