Gotham Dance Theater Auditions

Versatility is key when it comes to Gotham Dance Theater (GDT). We specialize in street jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and dance theater. Seeking strong, versatile dancers and/or apprentices for our upcoming 2025 season. Professional dancers must be 18 years of age or older.

Under the artistic direction of Marc Nuñez and Davonna Batt, GDT company members learn new choreography every season and re-stage company repertory.  GDT performances include, but are not limited to: evening length stage production, outdoor festivals, community events, and dance films. We advise that every prospective dancer become familiar with the company via our website GothamDanceTheater.com or via Instagram @GothamDanceTheater.

Gotham Dance Theater's “Summer Suite 7.0: Over the Rainbow” will explore LGBTQ+ experiences within different cultures reflective of the dancers. Music will include Tagalog, Spanish, Korean, Arabic, and Indian - reflective of our dancers. The choreography and music will also showcase dance styles rooted in queer culture, including waacking and voguing.

Summer Suite 7.0

- Community-oriented free performances and community classes
- Various outdoor locations throughout Queens and Manhattan
- Seeking dancers proficient in jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop; experience in global dance styles a plus (i.e. Bollywood, Latin, Dabke)
- Dancers residing in Queens also a plus
- Performance schedule will be released to selected dancers for audition

GDT10 is Gotham Dance Theater's 10th Anniversary Celebration evening length production, which is a live performance including past repertory and new work. 
Important Dates

- Rehearsals begin Wednesdays from 5:30-9pm starting April 30
- Some Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons may be added as needed
- Rehearsal location varies Martha Graham, Mark Morris, Gibney
- Photoshoot Wednesday, May 7 from 5:30-9pm 
- Summer Suite outdoor performances from June-September
- GDT10 early November

Compensation

Between $200-900 per dancer dependent on number of performances, rehearsals, and other work
Additional compensation for teaching company or community classes
Rain Out - performance compensation provided if there is a sudden cancellation of an outdoor performance due to weather within 24 hours
Media materials provided throughout the season (i.e. headshot photoshoot, professional performance photos and videos, etc.)
