Dance/NYC in Alliance with Dance/USA

Dear Friend:

We are writing you as a member of Dance/USA, or constituent of Dance/NYC, to let you know about Dance/NYC’s evolution from a branch of Dance/USA to a New York State-registered not-for-profit corporation.

As of yesterday, January 1, 2013, Dance/NYC has begun its independent activities as a not-for-profit corporation, working in strategic collaboration with Dance/USA.

This corporate restructuring will bolster Dance/NYC’s local infrastructure, financial viability, and core leadership training and professional development programs, while preserving local-national synergies in service delivery. Dance/USA and Dance/NYC will continue working closely together in service to dance.

There will be no change in service by Dance/NYC to members of Dance/USA, who receive discounts on fee-for-service programs through DanceNYC.org and on registration for the Dance/NYC Symposium, scheduled this year for Sunday, February 24. Dance/USA members in New York City will continue to receive core services of discounts to national convenings, access to industry research, representation through Dance/USA's federal advocacy efforts, and eligibility to participate in various national special initiatives.

We will discuss Dance/NYC’s evolution and new working relationship with Dance/USA at the Dance/NYC Symposium and hope you can be with us.

We also hope you can join us for Dance/USA’s Winter Forum in New York on January 11 to explore our country’s shifting demographics and the impact it is having on our professional dance industry.

Thank you for all you do for dance in New York and America.

Sincerely yours,

Amy Fitterer
Executive Director, Dance/USA

Lane Harwell
Executive Director, Dance/NYC
