Join Dance/NYC in Celebrating 2012

Greetings from Dance/NYC!

As we begin the New Year, now 12 days in, Dance/NYC celebrates some special moments from 2012. Here are 12:

Dance/NYC:

1) Responds to Hurricane Sandy by launching The Mertz Gilmore Foundation's NYC Dance Response Fund, as featured in The New York Times.

2) Publishes Discovering Fiscally Sponsored NYC Dancemakers, extending our State of NYC Dance research to underrepresented artists. Read more in the Wall Street Journal and Chronicle of Philanthropy.

3) Releases the Dance/NYC Junior Committee's Dance Workforce Census: Earnings Among Individuals, 21-35 through Crain's New York Business. Find more Dance/NYC research at DanceNYC.org.

4) Uses the Workforce Census to make the case for healthcare options, including a Ryan Community Health Network initiative for NYC dance.

5) Reaches aging NYC dance artists through a Still Kicking town hall. Watch Dance/NYC events on DanceNYC.org.

6) Kickstarts NYC Dance with crowdfunding partners Kickstarter and USA Projects. The Washington Post's "Dance is Kickstarter's Most Successful Category," cites Dance/NYC as its example of "advocates... paying attention."

7) Facilitates resource sharing in NYC dance with OurGoods and Fourth Arts Block. See our Connect the Blocks town hall.

8) Sparks critical debate on the state of NYC dance press, including features in The Star-Ledger and Dance Magazine.

10) As producing partner, brings the New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies) back to the legendary Apollo Theater.

9) Joins It Gets Better video campaign to offer messages of hope to LGBT youth. See NYC dance videos at Skynova TV, and read more in Gay City News.

11) Grows DanceNYC.org's registered users by 100%--expanding the online footprint for NYC dance. Register here to post your free listings or ads. Subscribe to our e-newsletter at DanceNYC.org.

12) Evolves from a branch of Dance/USA to a New York State-registered not-for-profit corporation. As I hope you know, on January 1, 2013, Dance/NYC began its independent activities, working in strategic collaboration with Dance/USA.

These 12 moments were made possible because we have patrons and partners like you.

I invite you to join us in serving NYC dance in 2013 by making a gift now:

DONATE TO Dance/NYC

I also invite you to join our Symposium on February 24.

With thanks for all you do for dance. Onward.
