Accessibility and Application Assistance

Dance/NYC is committed to accessibility and equity for disabled and immigrant people in its programs. Each method of application assistance includes specific details for how disabled people may request support.

Tips for Submitting Your Application 

  • Check out our application guide!
  • Prepare all of your materials in advance. Dance/NYC estimates applicants may need approximately 5-10 hours to complete their application if they already have work samples available. 
  • Read the technical assistance offerings outlined below. 
  • Review all materials provided thoroughly before reaching out to the Dance/NYC team with additional questions. Often your question is answered within!

Multi-Language Access

This call for proposals is available in Spanish and Chinese on the Dance Advancement Fund page.

The application guide and FAQ are not translated but can be provided upon request for interested applicants.

If you would like to submit your application in Spanish or Chinese, please contact us at danceadvancementfund@dance.nyc. You can send your email in English, Spanish, or Chinese. Please allow 3-4 business days to receive a response with next steps.

To assist prospective applicants, Dance/NYC will hold a webinar virtually via Zoom. All applicants are strongly encouraged to participate. The webinar will include real-time transcription in English. The webinar will include Closed Captioning and ASL interpretation.

The webinar will be held on a video/audio conferencing platform called Zoom, which invites you to join the meeting using your computer or phone. Please plan on taking a few minutes before the start of the meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom. When you have joined the meeting, it is suggested that you use a headset or earphones with a microphone to avoid feedback. When you are not speaking, mute yourself until ready to speak.

Virtual Technical Assistance Sessions

To assist prospective applicants, Dance/NYC will be holding virtual one-on-one technical assistance sessions via Zoom or by phone. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants will be able to register for: 

One (1) 20-minute session to receive one-on-one support, including but not limited to answering questions about eligibility, required materials, etc. Please register for only one session, at least two (2) business days in advance. 

Spanish and Chinese translation, ASL interpretation or closed captions will be available upon request at the time of registration. If you anticipate needing any of these services, please register at least five (5) business days in advance. 

Available dates include:

  • September 9, 2021, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. EST
  • September 16, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST
  • September 23, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST
  • September 30, 2021, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST

Register for a 20-minute session

OR

One (1) 40-minute session assisting with the completion of the application on Submittable. Priority for 40-minute sessions will be given to disabled applicants and/or applicants who do not have access to Wi-Fi and/or a computer for the purposes of submitting an application. Please register for only one session, at least two (2) business days in advance. 

Spanish and Chinese translation, ASL interpretation or closed captions will be available upon request at the time of registration. If you anticipate needing any of these services, please register at least five (5) business days in advance.

  • September 8, 2021, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. EST
  • September 10, 2021, 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. EST

Questions sent to Dance/NYC staff or project consultant email accounts directly may be missed and go unanswered. As appropriate, Dance/NYC’s responses to questions received will be added to the FAQ page.
