DANCE MAKING ORGANIZATIONS
The Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund is an initiative made possible by a coalition of funders to mitigate the growing impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on individual freelance dance workers and dance making organizations with budgets between $10,000 and $500,000 based in the metropolitan New York City area, particularly financial losses incurred due to the spread of COVID-19 and the social restriction measures implemented to contain the spread of the virus.

For the second round of the Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund, dance making organizations with annual operating budgets between $10,000 and $250,000 were eligible. Grantees were awarded one-time grants of $2,500-$5,000, from September 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020, based on organizational budget size. The 56 grantees were selected by a review panel and were among a competitive pool of over 100 metropolitan New York City area dance groups who submitted applications in response to an open call and included applications submitted during the first round of the Fund that had not been selected for funding. Key evaluation criteria included: Organizations who articulate a clear need for financial reimbursement in order to withstand mandated closures; and Organizations artistically led or otherwise creating work by ALAANA and/or women-identifying and/or disabled and/or immigrant artists.

For the inaugural Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund, dance making organizations with annual operating budgets between $25,000 and $500,000 were eligible. Grantees were awarded one-time grants of $2,500-$5,000, from May 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020, based on organizational budget size. The 69 grantees were selected by a review panel and were among a competitive pool of over 130 metropolitan New York City area dance groups who submitted applications in response to an open call. Key evaluation criteria included: organizations who articulate a clear need for financial reimbursement in order to withstand mandated closures, and Organizations artistically led or otherwise creating work by ALAANA and/or women and/or disabled and/or immigrant artists.
