David Appel is looking for one dancer
Looking for one dancer for a performance on May 14, 2011 (with the possibility to continue beyond that). Person must be a seasoned improviser, with technical skills informed by a fluid, evolving sense of their own dancing and openness around ways of working with others [this is a small group piece].
Regular rehearsals are already in progress and take place twice weekly: Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons (with a couple of exceptions). There is no rehearsal pay, but you will receive a significant performance fee.
David Appel’s work is often characterized by a curious and at times intricate mix of improvised and set material. While earlier in his career he choreographed and performed in a wide range of contexts and situations, he has more recently been visible primarily through his idiosyncratic solo performances. He is also a member of Orb. Fade. Trip. Dog., a quartet of veteran improvising choreographer/performers living in four different cities. For more information, go to www.youtinydancer.com.
Prospective participants will be auditioned by invitation to this week’s rehearsals. If you are interested, send an email with your contact information (including phone number) and resume attached as soon as possible to appel_audition@verizon.net.
Note: please do not reply unless you have the experience indicated above, and are willing and able to make the consistent commitment necessary to be part of realizing this work.
Thanks.
