Audition: Black Girl Ugly annual performance project

I am Ashley Brockington and for the past three years I have produced a Theater piece called Black Girl Ugly.

Black girl ugly began as a confession for the three actors that made up the cast: a confession of the moment that they bought into the false belief that black women are inferior to white women.

It has grown into a yearly performance project where three women consider the impact of growing up a black woman in a world that prefers white skin.

Each year the actresses participate workshop/rehearsal period where they translate their own life experiences into scenes that eventually become the meat of the play.

Any potential cast members should know that Black girl ugly is alternative theater making.  The players must have very strong improvisational skills.  I am looking for three black actresses that are between the ages 25 and 40.  They must be able to sing and be comfortable with choreography.

This is a non-equity production.  There will be a $500 actors fee and a required showings in Brooklyn public schools in the fall (dates tba)

Please email your headshot and resume (if you have one) to blackgirlugly@gmail.com to reserve a slot.  No headshot? No problem.  Just send an email telling me which day you would like to audition.
