Joffrey Ballet School - Summer Programs Paid Internship

 

Founded by Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino in 1953, the Joffrey Ballet School offers a well-rounded dance curriculum that includes rigorous professional training for aspiring dancers as well as recreational dance classes for all ages. The Children's and Young Dancer's Program provides year-round and summer classes from ages two through high school; the Trainee Division is subdivided into classical ballet, contemporary ballet, and jazz and contemporary full-time, year-round programs; and the Adult Program offers drop-in classes and workshops seven days a week for students of all abilities. Graduates of the School have gone on to dance for major classical ballet companies, as well as for numerous modern and contemporary companies, both in the United States and abroad. The School is seeking interns for its comprehensive 2011 summer dance programs, consisting of the Summer Dance Camp, Young Dancer Intensive, Ballet Summer Intensive, and Jazz and Contemporary Summer Intensive.  

Interns will be responsible for assisting office staff on site, and/or overseeing operations at studios located in Manhattan’s historic Greenwich Village and Chelsea districts for the duration of the summer ballet intensive programs. Daily tasks will include assisting faculty and staff with studio operations, acting as point of contact for office staff/instructors/parents, customer service, maintaining attendance rosters, and enforcing a professional attitude amongst the students.

Summer programs begin June 13 and run continuously through August 6. Interns should be able to commit to a 9:00-5:00 weekday schedule - specific weeks within the program dates listed above are flexible.

Qualifications:
GPA 3.0 or higher
Full-time internship commitment
Professional work ethic, a positive attitude, & ability to work in past-paced environment
Experience or strong interest in the performing arts

Compensation:

$100/week stipend
Free classes
College credit
