Erick Hawkins Dance - Audition and Intensive Workshop

Erick Hawkins Dance will be holding auditions for male and female dancers in late fall 2011. We are announcing our intensive workshop, led by Artistic Director Katherine Duke, as a way for dancers to gain exposure to the company and familiarity with the Hawkins Technique. Information below:

August 22, 2011 - August 26, 2011
Monday-Friday
9:00am - 5:00pm

The Hawkins Intensive is a chance for dancers both experienced in and new to the Hawkins technique to grow in core strength, compositional skills, artistic expression, and repertory. It can be taken as either individual classes or individual days, but dancers will benefit the most from experiencing the full week.

Daily Schedule:

9am-10:15am: a Core Skills class, led by Laurie Sepe Marder, which will focus on strengthening the core muscles in a way that will nurture the musculoskeletal structure

10:30am-12pm - Traditional Hawkins technique class

12pm-1pm - Lunch break

1pm - 2:30pm - Repertory

2:45 - 4:45pm - Dance Composition

Both the composition class and the repertory class will work towards a final showing, presented in the Ailey Studios on August 26th at 7pm. In order to participate in the showing, dancers must be present for at least three days.
