MALE DANCER!

KATHARSIS PERFORMANCE PROJECT is in search of a male dancer for its upcoming experimental play THE PLAGUE which was written and will be directed by Fulya Peker.  Peker is a conservatory trained theater artist and has worked with Richard Foreman, Katsura Kan and other experimental NYC theater companies and most recently featured in David Michalek’s Portraits in Dramatic Time at Lincoln Center.

THE PLAGUE is a lingual journey that focuses on the physical and verbal effects of rationality and uses the great plagues of history as a metaphor. The play is a meditation on human beings who gradually become non-responsive, whose minds and bodies are forced to be separated. This play will be accompanied by original sound (including a live timpanist) and choreography which will be created through Peker's Split and Unite exercises (words into gestures and gestures into words). THE PLAGUE will have its world premiere at Theater for the New City on September 16th, 2011.
(9 performances)

A male dancer: Ability to be precise while radiating a sense of power and energy is vital. (Butoh dance experience is a plus but not a must.) Dancer will also be asked to memorize a short list of words...

*There will be some pay.

If interested please send an image or clip of your performance to Fulya Peker at info@fulyapeker.com along with a short introduction about your experience. The rehearsals will begin on August 10th.
