Open Call Studio-Share Residencies at CAVE

Call for dancers, body-workers, small dance groups and choreographers

Do you need a studio...

to teach your classes?

to keep up your own practice?

to rehearse new work?

Five individuals/groups are selected for a twelve-month subsidized studio-share residency at CAVE, starting October 1, 2011 and ending September 30, 2012. This studio space is 450 sq ft. with 16′ – 11′ high ceilings with a sprung, black marley floor and an adjacent restroom. It is equipped with a stereo system (CD player and IPod hook-up). The space is heated during the winter and has fans for the summer, as well as skylights. Please note: this is not our white studio, it is the black studio in the back.

Resident artists will receive UP to 12 hours per week of rehearsal/private class space, bi-monthly inclusion of their activities on CAVE’s e-mail newsletter, access to Material for the Arts supplies, the use of one small camcorder and one video projector (in-studio use only) during the one-year period, all for a flat monthly fee of $270 USD.

Chosen artists will be responsible for self-management and keeping the studio clean.

Each artist will have 12 points per week to use the space. Every hour before 5pm counts as a one point, and every hour after 5pm, will count as one and a half points. All weekends hours are counted as a one and a half points. So you will be able to use the studio UP to 12 hours per week (48 hours per month).

CAVE is located in Williamsburg, at 58 Grand Street, Brooklyn, New York. The nearest subway station is accessed by taking the L train to Bedford Ave or the J/M/Z to Marcy Ave – street parking is also available.

CAVE is an artist-run organization devoted to promoting the work and collaboration of and among emerging and established artists and audiences from diverse cultures and artistic fields of study. Through this new residency CAVE aims to provide an arena for artistic exploration to the local community of dancers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, body-workers; all who seek the space to create and share their work.
